Open Letter

Open Letter to All Readers (and one person in particular....you know who you are):

Please note that I changed the title of my last post from:

"The Media is Biased"

to

"Damn Liberal Biased Media!"

This was necessary due to the fact that I was informed that the statement "The Media is Biased" was obvious or maybe the exact quote was, "No Shit!". Also, apparently I am ignorant and naive, but that will remain to be seen.

I would like to stress to all liberals, that while there is a war going on that you have every right to oppose, (that's why we fight for rights ya'll), there are some amazing and wonderful things happening that never get mentioned in the news.

I also would like to point out that we, (by "we" I mean Republicans, Conservatives, etc.), are happy to let all of you have your opinions no matter how wrong (in our opinion) they may be. It's just easier that way.

Anyway, I'm sure I have offended many of you....and that's ok too.

I don't care if we agree or disagree. That's why we vote.

Kisses.

But the conservative biased media is okay? =)

And some liberals do, you know, support the war =)

But, I do think that the good things that are happening over there are severely underreported. And that's a shame. One would think that if one were trying to bolster public opinion, one would do a better job in PR'ing the good.

Good point....I don't think any biased media is okay. But I do understand that there is bias both ways. I think that the "news" shows should report facts and leave opinions for appropriate formats.

A couple thoughts, Sherri:

1) "News" programs serve the primary purpose of attracting viewers to watch the commercials sold by the networks, and are therefore "entertainment".

2) Captain Chontosh has the same attitude that virtually every hero has..."I was only doing what needed to be done." I read a book many years ago that detailed a psychological study of Medal of Honor winners, and that's the thing they all have in common. As Dick Winters said in his interview for the HBO series "Band of Brothers", "I'm not a hero, but I served in a company of heroes."

I gave up watching news because there's always a feeling of punditry nowadays, both liberal and conservative, depending on the channel.

But, before I got nauseous, I didn't exactly see those stories of heroism on FOX either.

And I'd like to revoice what Anonymous said about some liberals supporting the war and the troops. Beleive it or not, there are liberals in the military too.

We don't question our leaders during time of was because we don't care about the troops or because we're unpatriotic, it's because dammit, when the president is sending my family and friends off to risk their lives or die, he has to be held to a higher accountability than during peace time.

This country was based on ideals that included having a government that was accountable to it's constituants. IMO questioning our leaders is as patriotic as saluting the flag. It shows we take our responsibilties as citizens seriously.

Umm... except you didn't really challenge liberal patriotism did you?

You just said you hate biased media. In which case I agree with you.

Please ignore my previous rant and just change it to "yeah, me too."

Operator 15: No, I don't hate liberals, just the media. I think that it's great that we can all have such diverse opinions and live in a (basically) peaceful society.

bad guy: Favor8 does rock. Fence riding Bushites? Hmm.....kinda like that :) Thanks.

hey, remember when we were little and we believed everything our parents and other grown ups said? We completely trusted that they had our best interests at heart and that indeed we were the center of the Universe.
Those days were fun.

In 1999, George W. Bush criticized President Clinton for not setting a timetable for exiting Kosovo, and yet he refuses to apply the same standard to his war.

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is."

-George W. Bush, 4/9/99

"I think it's also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn."

-George W. Bush, 6/5/99

"It doesn't make any sense to have a timetable. You know, if you give a timetable, you're conceding too much to the enemy."

-George W. Bush, 6/24/05

Ah yes...let's get into a quote war just for the heck of it. Of course, that would be getting off topic.

Well, if we are going to go off topic, we may as well explore why I throw quotes out there in response to a comment made regarding our present leader not admitting when he is wrong.

My quotes were made to show that there were others, indeed, that lead our country, that had problems with being completely forthright.

I realize that I probably should have fully made my point and that my quotes may have come off as seemingly having a superiority complex.

Fortunately, that was not my intention. I should have continued to say that I think that many leaders, whether it be someone leading our country, or merely someone leading a company, have problems admitting they are wrong. To many leaders, admitting they are wrong is like admitting defeat, which they would never do.

What is demonstrated above is to show that 6 years and a terrorist attack inside the U.S. later, a person can grow, change perspective, and even change their minds.

Do I wish that our president were bold enough to admit his mistakes and understand that it would only make his supporters trust him more? Sure. Have most prior presidents, Republican and Democratic, had problems admitting they were wrong? Absolutely.

It's innately part of the job, and it's innately undesirable to the public. It's also not going to stop in the future unless we demand that it stop. That's in our hands.

In the mean time, it's time to recognize that when Democrats are in office, Republicans find justifiable reasons to call them liars and incapable of admitting failures. And when Republicans are in office, the Democrats do the exact same thing. I think they call that Party Politics.

Mad Hoosier: I like your point. Really it's all the same, what we accuse each other of. It just depends on which side of the fence you sit (Even though I apparently "fence-ride") as to what your core beliefs are. I think either way we all love America, we just have a different idea of what it will take to achieve an ideal.

My favorite thing about people's rants against politicians is that somewhere it must be written that politicians aren't allowed to change their minds. President Bush, while not serving as President, commented on the situation in Kosovo, saying that President Clinton needed to have a timetable. Upon becoming President, seeing the nation through a horrific terrorist attack on American soil, and becoming the President of a country that is at war, he CHANGED HIS MIND and said that a timetable is not feasible. I change my mind all the time. I wanted to be a teacher. Now, I want to be a nurse. I went back to school. I am becoming a nurse. No one told me, when I changed my mind, that I was a liar when I initially said that I wanted to be a teacher or that I didn't know what I was talking about when I wanted to be a teacher. In 1999, President Bush was not the President, and he stated his opinion that a timetable for Kosovo was needed. Now, in 2005, he is President, and he has CHANGED HIS MIND and feels that putting a timetable on the war means the enemy has won.

I know that there is no way that I would want to be the President of this country. Hell, I didn't even really want to be the president of my sorority! However, Dubya stepped up and won the nomination for his party and was elected to TWO TERMS IN A ROW! Well, good for him for stepping up!

I get bothered when someone who is not a Bush supporter tries to blame me for supporting Bush and acts like it is the fault of all of us Republicans that he is in office right now. I am sorry, but I don't need that on my head. What's important to me is that person who is President is the person who I thought of (and still think of) as the best man for the job. And apparently, more people agreed with me than not because John Kerry is not our President right now.

I know that was wordy and basically made no sense. I promise my next diatribe will be in my blog...not yours!

All: I must beat bad guy soundly.

bad guy: Isn't it interesting how you thought Favor8 rocked (who clearly had the longest comment) because you agreed with him, but you thought m.thom was long winded? Very interesting.

I picture you sitting in front of your computer with your fingers in your ears going "la, la, la...I can't hear you", whenever someone has a differing opinion.

But you know what? That's ok. I welcome your comments....just don't scare away my imaginary friends!

I remember watching the debates and hearing that John Kerry was a "flip flopper" for CHANGING HIS MIND. He even came right out and said that once he had more information about Mr. President's plan he changed his mind which is more than Bush has done (admit it).
Now, I am sooooo not political. I am not "for" either party or particular person. I honestly believe that by the time a person gets that far into politics they are basically ruined. They may start out with high ideals and real morals but I think at some point one person does them a favor and then another and eventually they are compromised. The difference between a politician and regular joe is that a politician has to hide everything that might sort of make them look bad. And at that point the tangled web begins. By the time the media uncovers it, it always looks worse (I'm talking for both Republicans and Democrats.)
Right now, in Illinois we have a wonderful Senator ~Barack OBama and hopefully he will keep his morals in check...but something tells me someone will dig something up on him (like he smoked pot when he was 20 or had sex with a woman who wasnt his wife) and then to save his chances at one day becoming president he'll cover it up. And so it will begin.
Damn you Sherri, lets talk about poop and boobs and Tom Cruise somemore.

Sherri, how ironic, I also picture you sitting in front of your computer, although your fingers are not in your ears, but in other, more sensitive areas of your body, just day dreaming of the Bad Guy and wishing you had the polital incorrectness to cum over to the dark side.

Udan,do you always talk like a homosexual, or is that just your style of writing? "Silly little boy" just sounds like wishfull thinking.
"Subject myself to ridicule" hmmm, perhaps if I were addressing you, you might comprehend the underlying messages.
However, since you seem like a middle aged man, who was breast fed to the age of 13, I can,(in a Freudian kinda way) understand your need to defend the female,or should I say, mother, type.
